Conversations with Business

At each Career Industry Day, a different career pathway is explored in an exciting, interactive panel presentation that features industry representatives and experts in the field. These presentations allow educators to keep abreast of the latest trends in business and industry. These 1.5 hour sessions focus on one career pathway and individual clusters within the pathway. Employers assist teachers to anwser the timeless question, "Why do I have to learn this?" by providing strategies for connecting acedemics to the workplace. Career Pictorial

A 2-day training sequence designed for middle school, high school, and college teachers who want to integrate the career decision-making model throughout curriculum. This is an outstanding curriculum for English, Social Studies, Career-Technical, and Career Development courses. Participants explore the career decision-making process first-hand as they create their own career pictorial.

SCANS Training

This two-part staff development strand focuses on how important it is for students to be motivated to learn. Teasching strategies and learning concepts are presented for curriculum design and lesson plan design which builds relevance and rigor through strategies that allow students to focus, learn, retain, and apply content information.

SCANS I - An interactive introduction to the SCANS skills, the National Career Development Guidelines, Career Pathways, learning modes and domains, and teaching strategies to reinforce content and pro-social skill training.

SCANS II - This advanced staff develo[ment training provides additional interactive and cooperative learning strategies. Participants learn how to capitalize on students' multiple intellegences and how to ststematically sequence content through "Bloom's Taxonomy".

Comperhensive Career Education Guidance Plan

Personallized assistance for high school Guidance and school-based STC Teams who wish to establish and maintain a comprehensive plan to develop a school-wide program to meet competencies outlined in the National Career Development Guidelines.

Project Based Learning

PBL is an instructional "standards-driven" strategy that allows content integration with real-world applications, rigorous applications, and authentic design to motivate ALL learners to greater participation.

PBL training allows participants to reflect on current practices, build new models and participate in a curriculum design process that allows them to inquire, design, implement, and reflect on powerful teaching and learning.

Participant are directly assissted to incorporate a project relevant to their content area that has been designed by a local business or community agency. Our staff will asssist participants in establishing a meaningful business or community partnership of their own choosing.

Teacher Workplace Learning Strand

A personalized workplace learning experience for acedemic and Career Technical teachers that allows participants to experience how the content they teach is applied in the workplace.

Our staff will make arrangements for teachers to spend on day with local employer within an industry cluster related to the teacher's content area. A great way to learn how your content applies to the real world and to form business partnerships!
