Think about what is important to you and what you want out of life, and utilize this information as a starting point for career exploration. Find out everything you can about the careers that interest you, and make sure that they have a great future in the area that you would want to live in. Use available resources such as the Career Center to learn about career possibilities and alternatives. Research schools to find out which colleges offer degrees or training programs that meet your career goals and financial needs. Also, look at things like the job duties, the personal qualities and skills needed, as well as the pay. Gather first hand information from people that are currently doing the job you want by attending Career Industry Days, informational interviews, and by job shadowing. Lastly, plan your high school classes to include electives that are related to your career goals. |
