Learn to identify the traits that make you who you are and use them to help discover what you want out of life. When it comes to your future you do not want to assume that everything will magically work out. If you already have an idea of what you want to be and do then that is great, and if you are not sure then that is fine too. In either case you still need to think about what is important to you, and how those things will impact your choices. |

Often times young people limit their career choices to professions that they have heard about through parents and friends, seen others doing, or watched on TV. They do not realize that this only accounts for a small fraction of their career possibilities. This is not to discourage you from dreaming. It is intended to encourage you to take a realistic look at any careers you consider and open your eyes to all the possibilities. Once you find a career that interests you, make sure it fits with your personality, interests, and talents. Sound complicated? It is not a hard as it might seem. |

Make a detailed list, and be honest with yourself. Even if something seems small then write it down. Once you have this list you can use it to see if your personality matches with the demands and qualities needed for the various careers you are considering. The idea is to use self-awareness as a tool to find and narrow career choices. |
